How a Person Becomes Saved
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. (Romans 10:9-10 ESV)
Prayer to Accept Christ as Your Savior and Lord
The death of Jesus Christ to pay the penalty for sin is a free gift. Jesus Christ and God the Father desire to have a personal relationship with you because they love you. "Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God..."(John 1:12) Just as with any free gift, you must receive the gift for it to truly be yours.
How do you receive the free gift of Jesus Christ? "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved..."(Acts 16:31) We can receive Jesus Christ by personally inviting Him into our lives. Jesus said "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in..."(Revelation 3:20) Open the door of your heart to Him!

Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank you for dying on the cross to pay the penalty for all of my sins - past, present and future. I confess and renounce all my sins to you now and I ask forgiveness for my sins and I receive you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for giving me the gift of eternal life. I now make the choice to turn from my old sinful ways and live a new life with you as my Lord and Savior.
Thank you Lord Jesus for willingly giving up your life so that I can have eternal life starting right now.
Thank you Heavenly Father for sacrificing your one and only Son on my behalf and for graciously giving me the gift of your Holy Spirit to guide me into all the truth.

When you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior, He comes into your life spiritually through His Holy Spirit, and you become a child of God. "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."(1 John 5:11-12) You may or may not feel any difference right away, but if you truly, from your heart, have asked Christ to be your Lord and Savior, your sins are forgiven and you are NOW a child of God.
