we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely (Hebrews 12:1-2)

For this is what the master, the Lord, the Holy One of Israel says: “If you repented and patiently waited for me, you would be delivered; if you calmly trusted in me you would find strength... (Isaiah 30:15)

Then Jesus said to those Judeans who had believed him, “If you continue to follow my teaching, [then] you are really my disciples and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32 NET)

So if the Son [Christ Jesus] sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36 ESV)

For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)

The Steps to Freedom in Christ

Continuous freedom in Christ comes from exposing our sin (Eph 5:11) by confessing our sin (1 John 1:9, James 5:16) and renouncing our association with sin (Titus 2:11-12) and repenting (a change of mind), with godly sorrow, (2 Pet 3:9, 2 Cor 7:8-11) of our sin and continually submitting, in humility, to God and resisting (James 4:6-7) further temptations to sin & deceptions to believe lies, taking every thought captive to make it obey Christ (2 Cor 10:4-5) and diligently standing firm (Gal 5:1, Eph 6:14-16) in our new freedom.
